Frommer's Review
This fascinating mansion overlooking the river at the edge of town was built in 1807, then radically added to in a more ostentatious style in 1860. The home remains more or less in the same state it was when reconfigured by cotton trader Capt. Richard Tucker; his descendant Jane Tucker still lives on the top floor. The Society of New England Antiquities offers tours of the lower floor. The highlight is the detailing; be sure to note the extraordinary elliptical staircase and the painted plaster trim (it's not oak).
