This small 1940s-era resort has seen more glamorous days, but it's still a superb, low-key establishment with great ocean views and walks through a seaside spruce forest. The low, wide, white-shingled Colonial Revival-style inn is furnished simply in country pine, with a classically austere dining room, narrow hallways with pine wainscoting, and a lobby with a fireplace. Innkeepers Corinne and Scott Larson, who bought the place in 2000, have been updating the place, long known (even favored) for its plain, occasionally threadbare rooms. Guests return each year to the 19-acre grounds filled with decks, gazebos, and walkways that border on the magical. It's hard to convey the magnificence of the ocean views, maybe the best of any inn's in Maine.
