As on Moorea, things are really quiet on Bora Bora after dark (this is, after all, one of the world's most romantic honeymoon hideaways, not a place to practice your dance steps). You might want to listen to a Tahitian band playing at sunset or watch the furious hips in a Tahitian dance show, which all the resorts offer at least once a week. The schedules change, so call ahead.
Even if you're not staying at the Club Med Bora Bora (tel. 60.46.04), you can have dinner there and watch the nightclub show staged by its staff. The full meal, wine, and show together cost about 6,100CFP (US$61). Call for reservations.
Le Récife Discothèque, about 1km ( 1/2 mile) north of Vaitape (tel. 67.73.87), is the island's lone nightclub, and it opens only on Fridays and Saturdays at 11pm (that's right, 11pm) and closes at 3am (or later) the following morning. The clientele are mostly Tahitians between 18 and 24 years old, and fights have been known to break out at that late hour. The cover is about 1,000CFP ($10), although women get in free on Friday. Beer costs at least 500CFP ($5).
