Frommer's Review

Set on the eastern side of the Matira peninsula, this exclusive resort was until recently known as the Inter-Continental Bora Bora Beachcomber Resort (and, like its sibling in Tahiti, may revert back to the Beachcomber name). This is one of the older resorts here, although much improved over the years, especially after a freak ocean wave (no, not a tsunami) did extensive damage and forced it to repair and renovate in 2005. Its bungalows, most of them overwater, are some of the most charmingly designed here. They were the first in which you could remove the tops of the glass coffee tables and actually feed the fish swimming in the turquoise lagoon below. Ashore, 11 beachside bungalows are less enchanting, but like the overwater units, they have Raiatea and Tahaa in their lagoon views. Two suites -- one overwater, one ashore -- have kitchenettes, making them suitable for families. Also beside the beach, a circular thatch-roofed building houses the reception area, a lounge, and the restaurant and bar, both with outdoor seating. The airy, beachside dining room offers very fine French selections, with an emphasis on seafood.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; outdoor saltwater pool; spa; watersports equipment/rentals; bike rentals; concierge; activities desk; car-rental desk; 24-hr. room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service
