Attractive to serious divers who don't need beachside sleeping quarters, this little resort sits beside the lagoon north of Vaitape and is best known for its dive shop and restaurant, both among the island's best. Closely packed into a small piece of land, the nine bungalows are built of dark wood under pandanus thatch roofs. Each has a front porch, cool marble floors, a king-size bed, and a sofa that can see double duty as a single bed. Three bungalows extend over the lagoon; these are more private and have tubs in their bathrooms as well as showers. Other than their being a bit dark inside, I like these spacious, comfortable units -- too bad they aren't on a beach. Note: This hotel quotes rates in U.S. currency, not CFP.
