Frommer's Review
Touted by many as the ultimate Okavango experience, this camp -- in a fabulous game-rich concession in the western part of the delta -- lets you explore the waterways of the region on the back of an elephant. The chief elephant is Abu, star of such motion pictures as The Power of One, Circles in the Forest, and Clint Eastwood's White Hunter Black Heart, who leads a herd of 12 African elephants, comprising 5 adults and 7 youngsters ranging from 4 months to 40 years of age. Guests are transported in comfortable, custom-made saddles. Elephants not only cope in water and sand with equal ease but also get very close to other game. Accommodation is in six extremely luxurious, custom-designed en-suite tents, beautifully furnished (we're talking kilim carpets and mahogany four-poster beds) and raised on teak decking with a private viewing platform overlooking a lagoon. The only potential drawback for someone with limited time is that you have to stay here for the full 5 nights.
Facilities:
Main mess tent; swimming pool; well-stocked library
