Briar Rose ReviewA country-style brick home built in the 1890s, this midcity bed-and-breakfast might remind you of Grandma’s place--only this Grandma is a hip Boulder Buddhist. The place is decorated with a Zen-meets–Big Sur approach, from the bedrooms to the parlor to the sunny back porch, and the lovely gardens offer a quiet escape. Two of the eight units in the main house have fireplaces; two in a separate carriage house come with either a patio or a balcony. All are furnished with feather comforters. The inn has implemented numerous environmentally aware policies, and the full organic breakfast is gourmet quality: homemade granola, fresh nut breads, yogurt with fruit, and much more. There are two guest computers off of the sitting room. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
