The Boulderado has been the place to hang your hat in downtown Boulder for over a century. Rooms cost $1 to $2.50 when it opened in 1909 and an annex was added in 1989, but otherwise the hotel has changed very little over the years. It still sports a distinctive red sandstone exterior and Spanish Revival architecture, stained-glass canopy above the lobby, and the original Otis elevator. The rooms and suites have taken advantage of the perks of modern technology (iPod docking stations and Wi-Fi, to name two) but retain a turn-of-the-century charm. The resident eating and drinking establishments are first-rate, with a fine-dining restaurant, a casual atmosphere at the Corner Bar, and a great basement haunt dubbed License No. 1.
