Located on the corner of Sint-Jakobstraat and Boterhuis (hence the two addresses) and east of the center, the Boterhuis hotel is a few minutes’ walk from Markt and Burg. Run by a mother and daughter, it’s friendly and feels like a home away from home. As you might expect in a former house, the angles and corners created by the remodeling make for oddly but delightfully shaped rooms. All of them are sleekly decorated, with contemporary neutral colors; the bathrooms are equally smart and well appointed. The family room, on the top floor, is spacious and has good views, but there's no elevator, and the staircase to get there is narrow. You can have breakfast in the vaulted dining room or (in summer) in the paved garden.
