Bryce Canyon Lodge ReviewThis sandstone and ponderosa pine lodge, which opened in 1924, is the perfect place to stay while exploring Bryce Canyon National Park. Located near the Rim Trail, the lodge provides extremely close access to the rim, the ideal spot for watching the play of changing light on the rock formations. The luxurious lodge suites are wonderful, with white wicker furniture, ceiling fans, and separate sitting rooms. The motel units are simply pleasant modern motel rooms, with two queen-size beds and either a balcony or a patio. Our choice is one of the historic cabins, restored to their 1920s appearance. They're a bit small, but have two double beds, high ceilings, stone (gas-burning) fireplaces, and log beams -- you might call the ambience "rustic luxury." The gift shop has one of the best selections of American Indian jewelry in the area. All units are nonsmoking. | 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
