Frommer's Review

Formerly the Hyatt, this hotel was totally transformed into the Sofitel Budapest, the only Sofitel in Hungary. The brand-new lobby has a definite Parisian flare to it with the central elevator and a large, splashy Biblioték area where guests can sit and borrow a book to read. The hallways and rooms have been redecorated with soft beige on beige designs and the beds have luxurious new bedspreads and huge pillows. Bathrooms are a good size with marble tile and countertops of gray and cream. Rooms on floors one to seven have a tub/shower combo, while those on the eighth-floor executive level have separate showers and bathtubs plus access to the executive lounge where snacks, drinks, and a special breakfast is served. Junior suites on several floors have kitchenettes and a combined living room and bedroom. The fitness center is decked out with a large indoor pool, exercise room, massage area, and sauna. One floor is nonsmoking.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; bar; cafe; pool; exercise room; sauna; concierge; business center; 24-hr. room service; massage; laundry service; wireless Internet throughout hotel; executive lounge

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
