Frommer's Review
This is an interesting restaurant in an odd location -- a surprisingly desolate part of the Microcentro. It's steps away from everything in the Microcentro but on a very small street that gets little foot traffic on its own and therefore seems remote. Enter this dark space, with paintings of elephants and mosaic decorations made from broken mirrors on the columns, and you'll feel as though you've gone into some kind of funky club instead of a restaurant. For vegetarians seeking a break from the meat offerings everywhere else, this is an ideal place to check out, with its many all-vegetable or -noodle offerings. Many come for drinks alone, sitting at the large bar with shelves of backlit bottles casting a warm glow. Though this place's advertising symbol is the Empire State Building, there's nothing New York about it. Empire is also one of the city's most popular restaurants among gay locals.
