You can watch the world go by at this place, at the corner of Lavalle and Esmeralda. Everyday shoppers and weird seedy folks will be part of the show from the seats of this combination restaurant, which comes in two parts -- half an ordinary Argentine parrilla, half a Syrian fast-food restaurant, serving such food as shawarma, falafel, and other items, beginning at US$1 (50p). The staff bounces back and forth between the two places. Daily specials aimed at the lunch crowd include the "Plato del Dia," a main course, bread, and a drink for a little over US$2 (£1.05). They also do takeout. But the best part about the place is sitting at the lunch counter, watching all of Buenos Aires, and laughing with the very chatty chefs at the parrilla.
