Frommer's Review

Located on Avenida Libertador, this hotel is Spanish-owned, with a sister hotel in Madrid. It opened in 2001, a few blocks from the Patio Bullrich shopping center, in an area that some would call Retiro, because it is near the train station complex, others Recoleta. The theme here is empire, with a modern update; a bust of Julius Caesar overlooks the concierge desk. The lobby evokes a sense of the Old World. Behind the main restaurant, the lobby opens onto a large overgrown patio that has a gazebo and outdoor seating. The English-hunting-lodge-style lobby bar is a place for ladies who lunch and businesspeople to gather for informal discussions. Rooms are very spacious, continuing the imperial theme. Royal-blue carpets with wreath patterns and elegant furnishings with rich veneers, brass fittings, and gold velvet upholstery await the visitor. The suites, with their walls, multiple doors and entrances, and extra sinks, are ideal for doing business without an invasion of privacy in the sleeping quarters. All bathrooms are oversize, with cream and green marble, and are well stocked with fine supplies. Suite bathrooms are even larger, with separated tub and shower stalls. Each room comes equipped with a large desk and high-speed Internet and Wi-Fi access, which will cost you about US$12 (£6.35) a day. The enormous and very impressive top-floor nuptial suites have kitchens. There are three wheelchair-accessible rooms. The gym is small, very clean, and well lit, with a wet and dry sauna off to the side and separate areas for men and women. A medium-size heated indoor swimming pool is also here; with the space's modern columns, it tries to give the impression of a Roman bath.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; indoor heated pool; small fitness center; wet and dry saunas; concierge; business center; 24-hr. room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; garden patio
