The Golden Tulip Savoy Review
Ever since Dutch Crown Prince William married the beautiful Argentine Maxima in 2002, the Dutch have flocked to Argentina. Dutch-owned Golden Tulip, opened in the historic hotel Savoy, catches that traffic. The original hotel opened in 1910, part of the glamorous rebuilding of Avenida Callao in the aftermath of the opening of nearby Congreso. The hotel was renovated completely in 2010, but maintains original details such as gorgeous moldings and stained-glass decoration. Rooms are large and those facing the street have tiny French balconies, but half of the hotel faces an interior courtyard with no views. All rooms are soundproof and have Wi-Fi. Suite bathrooms include a whirlpool bathtub. The hotel's Madrigales restaurant offers interesting Latin American fusion cuisine. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
