Frommer's Review
This hotel opened in 1999 in a historically listed building just across from Congreso. This hotel is a relative bargain, but it's important to see the room before agreeing to take it, as some come in odd shapes and arrangements. All rooms now have free Wi-Fi access, as does the lobby. A few rooms are split-levels, with the bed in lofts; some have very large bathrooms and others have small. Within the bathrooms, some have only showers while others have tub/shower combinations. Suites come with Jacuzzi tubs. Hair dryers are available at the front desk. Rooms facing Congreso have fantastic views, but the windows are not double-glazed, meaning it can be noisy. Considering the constant protests in front of Congreso, this is not to be taken lightly, unless you plan to spend a lot of the evening out of the hotel. There is no price differential for rooms with or without views, so make your decision on the basis of whether a view or quiet is more important to you. In spite of some of the problems with the hotel in such an old structure (such as the odd room arrangements), the staff is exceptionally helpful. Most patrons hail from Europe and South America as part of tour groups, and the hotel also heavily advertises itself locally as a gay-friendly place to stay. While, in previous editions of Frommer's, this hotel was listed as accepting pets, it no longer does so. Each room has a safe, but they are very small, holding not much more than a wallet. Additional items can be kept at the front desk.
