Frommer's Review
This is among the most authentic of all of the milongas. Enter a long hallway, and at the end you are rewarded by a room of people crowding to look at the main dance floor, watching the couples. Salón Canning is known for its extremely smooth, high-quality wooden parquet floor, considered one of the best for dancing in all of Buenos Aires by many of the tango enthusiasts I know in the city. This tango hall is among the only things left in Buenos Aires that still remains named for George Canning. The name of the salon refers to the time when the street Scalabrini Ortiz was formerly named in honor of this British diplomat.
