A meal in this pretty pillared restaurant is the perfect way to cap off a visit to Burford. Good pub lunches dominate the agenda at midday; dinners are formal, candlelit affairs. The evening menu is beautifully cooked and served. You might begin with Jerusalem artichoke soup with a smoked bacon boudin and follow with pan-fried sea bass with an open prawn ravioli in a sun-dried tomato sauce. The pub here attracts folks from all walks of life. They seem to adore its mellow atmosphere and charm. Guinness, cider, and a carefully chosen collection of ales, including a local brew, Wadworth Hook Norton Ale, are on tap.
