Frenchglen Hotel ReviewThis historic two-story hotel 60 miles south of Burns on the edge of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is in the middle of nowhere, so for decades the Frenchglen Hotel (now owned by Oregon State Parks) has been an important way station for travelers passing through this remote region. Today the hotel is most popular with bird-watchers. There are small, simply furnished guest rooms on the second floor of the hotel. For more spacious and modern accommodations, book a room in the affiliated Drovers' Inn, a 4-unit new building that has rooms with attached bathrooms ($90-$100 double). This hotel is often booked up months in advance. Three meals a day will cost $30 to $40 per person, and the hearty dinners are quite good. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
