Planning a Trip

Getting There -- There's no railway station in Caernarfon; the nearest connection is through Bangor, to which Caernarfon is linked by bus.

Buses run between Caernarfon and Bangor, a 25-minute ride, every 20 minutes throughout the day. Bus timetables are available either by calling the tourist information centre , dialing tel. 0844/800-4411, or visiting www.arriva.co.uk.

If you're driving from Bangor, head southwest along the A487; from Porthmadog head north along the A487.

Visitor Information -- The Caernarfon Tourist Information Centre is at Oriel Pendeitsh, 1 Castle St. (tel. 01286/672232; www.visitcaernarfon.com). From May through October, it's open daily 9:30am to 5:30pm; November to April, it's open Monday to Saturday 10am to 3:30pm.
