La Bella Durmiente

Located at the end of a steep dirt road, these cabañas seem as if they've jumped out of the tale Sleeping Beauty, which is what the name means -- but the word durmiente also refers to the thick wooden railroad planks used in the cabins' construction. Each cabaña is distinct, but all are handcrafted from wood and stucco and set among a grove of trees. While they may not offer many creature comforts, they are cozy idyllic places to relax a couple of nights. Each cabaña has a kitchen and barbecue, which can prove cost effective for independent travelers. Given the setting and amenities, such as the lovely palm-fringed swimming pool and games room with ping-pong and pool, the cabins are especially popular with young Chilean families. Try to get the "honeymoon" cabin -- it's the best here.
