The "Times Out" section in Thursday's Canberra Times has entertainment listings.
Of the pubs in town, the best in the city center are the British-style Wig & Pen, on the corner of Limestone and Alinga streets (tel. 02/6248 0171); the popular Moosehead's Pub, 105 London Circuit, in the south of the city (tel. 02/6257 6496); the Phoenix, 21 E. Row (tel. 02/6247 1606), which has live music upstairs (cover charge); and P. J. O'Reileys (tel. 02/6230 4752), on the corner of West Row and Alinga Street, an authentic-style Irish pub. King O'Malleys (tel. 02/6257 0111), Mort Street, is another popular Irish pub in the city.
If you're looking to roll some dice, the Casino Canberra, in Glebe Park, 21 Binara St., Civic (tel. 1800/806 833 in Australia, or 02/6257 7074), is a small, older-style casino offering all the usual casino games daily from noon to 6am. Dress regulations prohibit leisurewear, running shoes, and denim, but overall it's a casual place to lose some money.
