This cafe, with sweeping views across Lake Burley Griffin to the Australian War Memorial, began life as a fine dining room but has since metamorphosed into a much more casual affair. It's still got the same amazing view, elegant decor, and vaulted ceilings, just with much more affordable prices. The roasted field mushrooms with goat's cheese is a great way to kick-start the day, and the dinnertime options are pretty sophisticated for cafe fare; try the chargrilled duck confit with baked stone fruits and balsamic reduction.
