La Parilla

A downtown institution, La Parilla is a celebration of Mexican folklore featuring a colorful open-air dining room, nightly mariachi music, and a rich menu promising excellent food. You'll find authentic dishes from the garden and the Caribbean, as well as Mexican specialties like mole enchiladas or grilled Aztec steak wrapped in cactus leaves and stuffed with onions. There are also tacos of every variety (pastor is the specialty), sumptuous grilled steaks and seafood, and Maya treats such as poc-chuc pork tenderloin. This is a place to eat, drink, and be merry, and tequila samplers are available for those willing to risk a hangover tomorrow morning. One drawback: There are fans but no air-conditioning, so take a cold shower before you come here on a hot night.
