Although not actually in the town of Cancún, but on the highway leading north from Cancún to Punta Sam, this is the place for those who want a simple and secluded beach vacation. A pirate's flag greets you at the entrance, and an international kite-surfing school is located on the premises. This ecological hotel lies on a wide, virgin stretch of beach, away from the crowd of hotels and nightlife; there are no phones or television, just blissful peace and quiet. Ten simple cabañas named for the predominate color of the decor feature palapa roofs, beds, and hammocks. A small restaurant offers a basic selection celebrating fresh fish -- otherwise, the nearest restaurant is 2km (1 1/4 miles) away.
