Ritz-Carlton Cancún Review

The exclusive Ritz-Carlton fronts a 366m (1,200-ft.) white-sand beach, and all guest rooms overlook the ocean and pools. Rooms and public areas have the low-key elegance that's a hallmark of the Ritz chain -- think plush carpets; chandeliers; fresh flowers; and rooms with marble baths, fluffy featherbeds, and 400-count bed linens. Several new features will enhance your stay, including a culinary center that schedules daily Mexican and Maya cooking classes, as well as wine and tequila tastings. A group of specially designed "Itzy Bitzy Ritz Kids" guest rooms offer baby-friendly amenities and conveniences. In addition to the daytime Kids Camp, the Ritz offers a "Kids' Night Out" program that allows parents to steal away for the evening. The beachfront Kayantá Spa bases many of its treatments on traditional Maya rituals and therapies. The resort's oceanfront restaurant, Casitas, is the only beachside dining spot in Cancún, where you can dine on steakhouse fare in candlelit cabañas. The hotel's primary restaurant, Club Grill, is reviewed in the separately; the Lobby Lounge is a refined space for an evening out. The resort itself, as well as Club Grill and Fantino, another Ritz-Carlton restaurant, has received AAA five diamonds.

Facilities:
6 restaurants; lounge w/sushi bar; babysitting; Kids Camp, concierge; fully equipped fitness center; 2 outdoor pools (heated in winter); room service; spa; a Cliff Drysdale tennis center w/3 lighted tennis courts; club floors

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
