Frommer's Review
The Ritz-Carlton's $15-million, post-Wilma restoration shows off this luxurious hotel to spectacular effect. The hotel fronts a (mostly) recovered 366m (1,200-ft.) white-sand beach, and all rooms overlook the ocean and pools. Several new features will enhance your stay, including a culinary center that schedules not just daily Mexican and Maya cooking classes, but wine and tequila tastings as well; and a group of specially designed "Itzy Bitzy Ritz Kids" guest rooms that offer cribs, changing tables, and the option of ordering formula, diapers, and other essentials before your arrival. Rooms and public areas have the low-key elegance that's a hallmark of the Ritz chain -- think plush carpets, chandeliers, and fresh flowers, and rooms with marble baths, fluffy featherbeds, and 400-count bed linens. The beachfront Kayantá Spa bases many of its treatments on traditional Maya rituals and therapies. The hotel's newest restaurant, Casitas, is the only oceanside dining spot in Cancún, where you can dine on steakhouse fare in one of 16 candlelit cabañas. The hotel's primary restaurant, Club Grill, is reviewed separately.
Facilities: 5 restaurants; lounge w/seviche bar; 2 outdoor pools (heated in winter); 3 lighted tennis courts; fully equipped fitness center; Kayantá Spa; culinary center; Kids Camp program; concierge; travel agency; business center; shopping arcade; salon; room service; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; club floors.
