Frommer's Review
Formerly the Camino Real Cancún, the all-inclusive Dreams Resort has one of the island's most idyllic locations -- 29 hectares (71 acres) at the tip of Punta Cancún. The setting is casual, and the hotel welcomes children. The architecture of Dreams is contemporary and sleek, with bright colors and strategic angles. Rooms in the newer 17-story club section afford ocean views and extra services and amenities. Lower-priced rooms have lagoon views. The all-inclusive concept here includes gourmet meals, 24-hour room service, and premium brand drinks, as well as the use of all resort amenities, nonmotorized watersports, theme-night entertainment, and tips. Use of the spa costs extra. Unfortunately, service at the resort is inconsistent, perhaps owing to the all-inclusive concept.
Facilities: 4 restaurants; nightclub; 2 outdoor pools; private saltwater lagoon w/dolphins and tropical fish; lighted tennis court; fitness center w/steam bath; watersports; kayaks; paddleboats; Catamarans; beach volleyball; biking; archery; yoga; dance lessons; Kids' Club; travel agency; car rental; business center; salon; room service; massage; babysitting (w/advance notice).

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
