Opened in 1871, and recently renovated, this is a favorite of scholars, politicians, actors, and musicians. The ornate white building with wrought-iron accents looks out onto the sea, the old port, and a park. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture and paintings, and about 15 have kitchenettes. Each comes with a good bed and a small but efficient bathroom with a combination tub/shower. The more expensive rooms have sea views.
