This genteel, polite hotel is less well-known than the blockbuster mega-hotels nearby. But the fact that it's a demure choice, with relatively reasonable prices and a limited number of amenities, almost guarantees a healthy roster of bookings throughout the summer and throughout the film festival. It's set in the heart of Cannes, near most of the important shops and downtown bars and restaurants. Cheerful, stylish, and welcoming, with an image that's deliberately set a notch or two below what you might have expected at the Carlton or the Majestic, it offers a discreetly opulent decor in the public rooms, and medium-size bedrooms that are comfortably outfitted with conservative good taste.
