Atlantic House

Stylishly understated decor makes this one of the best-dressed joints in Camps Bay; its good looks compete respectably with an endless ocean horizon. It's more relaxed and intimate than pricier Ezard House, even higher up the slopes. Public spaces are gorgeous -- dark timber boxes frame the blue sky and sea, and elegant touches include a massive photographic mural that covers the entire double-volume stairwell. But the main attraction is the rooms -- you'd be happy to cut short a day of sightseeing to luxuriate in one. The three seaview rooms on the top floor are the most popular, but my favorite is the garden room, which has a private outdoor area and alfresco shower from where you can see Table Mountain and Lion's Head. Pool level rooms are less private, sans views.
