The swanky J.K. hospitality minibrand began with a flagship boutique hotel in Florence, but the Capri incarnation far outshines the original. Beautifully situated at water's edge just west of the port, this white mansion is an all-around stunner, with ultra-fashionable decorative accents in the common areas, and cosmopolitan flair and clever design in the guest rooms. J.K. Capri has been featured in Architectural Digest and offers a more sophisticated version of luxury than Capri's other high-end accommodations -- there's not a majolica tile in sight. Expansive teak terraces, outfitted with comfy lounge chairs, wrap around the building, providing guests countless cozy spots from which to gaze over the sea to Vesuvius. The property as a whole is quite large, fringed by well-kept lawns and gardens, and there's a large rectangular pool to the rear, with attached spa and fitness center. From the front desk to the pool bar, the staff is wonderfully attentive and engaging. The only drawback, and it's a minor one, is that you can't really walk to the action of Capri Town; but for many guests, the superb style and comfort of J.K. is all the "action" they need.
