Grand Hotel Quisisana

This luxury hotel offers splendid accommodations and top-notch service. More old-fashioned than the island's other top hotel, the stylish Capri Palace, in Anacapri, it is right in the heart of the action, yet well insulated from the hubbub. Built in the 19th century as an exclusive sanatorium (the name qui si sana means "here we heal"), it quickly changed into a hotel catering to those in need of pampering. Guest rooms are big and bright, opening onto wide arcades, and decorated with stylish period furniture. The large bathrooms are outfitted in marble or with designer tiles. Most of the rooms overlook the garden and pool -- a few have views of the town -- but only the more expensive suites claim the superb views you can otherwise enjoy from the hotel terraces. Even if you don't stay here, come for a drink at one of the elegant bars on the premises. We also recommend the hotel's restaurants, particularly the elegant Quisi, perfect for a gourmet candlelight dinner (tasting menu 110€; secondi 36€-42€; daily 7:30-11pm).
