Frommer's Review
No other fly-fishing lodge is as conveniently located as this one; it's even within (brisk) walking distance from the center of town -- closer in comparison with La Pasarela -- yet you can fish in the Simpson River below. The large, half-timbered building stretches along a forest hillside, its black and white colors giving it a bit of a Central European touch. It features one of the coziest lounges in Patagonia, with white sheepskin covers on sofas of the same color. The large rooms have gorgeous views of the pine forest and snowy Andes Mountains beyond; I'd say room 7 upstairs has the best view. Decor varies slightly, but basically rooms are white-walled with rustic, dark wood beams in ceilings and a Delft ceramic blue in plaid bed coverings and curtains and wood-burning stoves; the bathrooms have similar tones. Mincho's Lodge has the slight drawback of no longer being away from it all as other lodges and hotels have sprung up in the vicinity, but the lodge's guides can arrange tours to more remote spots. It's run by Chilean geologist Victoria Moya and golf champion Benjamín Astaburuaga.
