Catania-born Marella Ferrera is the most successful women's clothing designer to emerge from Sicily. She's known for fashions that make women look like goddesses or lionesses, sometimes with outrageous flounces or appropriately inappropriate slits in indiscreet places. Prices begin at about 800€ ($1,040) for ready-to-wear, and from 3,100€ ($4,030) for couture. The shop evokes a cross between an Italian garden and a boudoir, with bolts of lace bursting from antique chests and paintings that evoke dream sequences in a style that could have been inspired by Dalí
