A pleasant Georgian inn in Carnlough, the Londonderry Arms is a well-run, traditional kind of place. The building has its quirks—most of the inn is original, with a well-designed modern extension. Bedrooms are simple but comfortable, and a couple have views of the nearby sea. Triple and quad rooms can offer great savings for families or groups. (Check the website for special offers.) The old place could do with a facelift, in truth, but for this price most of us would accept the odd creak and frayed edge. An unexpected piece of historical trivia about this place: Winston Churchill was once (briefly) the landlord. He inherited it and sold it soon afterward, although he is known to have stayed here at least once.
