For evening entertainment, you can stargaze, go for a night dive, or have a drink in one of the island's handful of bars. Periodically, one of the bars will crank up the music, and voilà -- a disco. In general, the scene is so small that most folks will congregate at one or two bars. Which one or two bars is happening might shift from night to night; ask a local or two, and you'll certainly be directed to the current hot spot. My favorite bar is the open-air I&I Reggae Bar (tel. 633-3126), which features rustic wooden plank swings for most of its seating. The bar itself takes up the second and third floors of this thatch-roofed wooden structure and is located on a cross street on the southern end of town. In the center of the town Barrier Reef Sports Bar & Grill has a raucous vibe most nights. The newer Bondi Bar & Bistro (tel. 226-0610) brings a hip element to Caye Caulker’s nighttime scene with movie and DJ nights.
