One of the island's most authentic old restaurants, this place is popular with locals and draws an occasional visitor. It's most festive on Sunday when church groups in their "Sunday-go-to-meeting" clothes pour in for "a fill-up." The restaurant is housed in a wooden structure decorated with ship carvings and pictures of Caymanian life. The cooks make the island's most savory kettle of turtle stew, served with rice, beans, potato salad, and coleslaw. You can also order such hearty fare as braised oxtail or roast beef in gravy with vegetables and rice. The choice selection is always the catch of the day -- perhaps mahimahi, snapper, or kingfish -- served fried or grilled.
