This most popular lunch stop specializes in local cookery served the way it was long before the Cayman Islands became a popular travel destination. Traditional-looking with dark-wood furnishings, the restaurant offers air-conditioning -- a recent novelty. A great family dining choice because of its children's menu, the restaurant has a nonsmoking section and provides for special diets if requested far enough in advance. A takeout service is available if you're planning a picnic on the beach. The all-time favorite meal is red-bean soup followed by roast beef with rice and beans. We're more drawn, however, to the steamed, freshly caught turbot with steamed vegetables, and the fried kingfish with rice and beans. Chicken is another favorite dish here, and it comes baked, curried, or stewed.
