Nightlife

Where the Flintstones Boogie the Night Away

Just .8km (1/2 mile) to the east in Cala'n Porter is a unique nightspot. Embedded in a series of caves within a sheer cliff face rising from the sea, La Cova d'en Xoroi (tel. 97-137-72-36; www.covadenxoroi.com) is a conglomeration of bars, terraces, intimate nooks and crannies, and a disco floor. For sheer drama, the setting is without equal. As you walk down the entrance stairway, the magnificent setting opens before you. The dance floor overlooks the sea at the cliff's edge -- there's no window, just a railing. Prehistoric vessels were found inside these caves that, according to legend, were once the refuge of a Moor called Xoroi, who had abducted a local maid and made his home here with her and their family. You can visit this unusual spot during the day as well, from 10:30am to 9pm. In the evening, from 11pm to 4am, La Cova d'en Xoroi transforms into a disco. Admission is 15€ to 25€, including your first drink.
