Frommer's Review
Shore Acres is an upscale motel, set well off the road on nicely maintained grounds overlooking Lake Champlain. It consists of clean, standard-size motel rooms arrayed along a covered walkway; the rooms are furnished simply but comfortably with modern oak furniture. Porch chairs are just outside your door for relaxing and enjoying the views; all lakeside rooms (19 of the 23 total units) have screen doors. (The remaining four rooms are in a compound of nearby farmhouses.) Opt for the lake rooms if they're available; of these, rooms 15 to 18 are somewhat larger than the others. The real draw here is the property -- you're surrounded by open space, lush lawns, a little (free) 9-hole golf course, and farm country, and the owners take obvious pride in the place. Adirondack chairs are scattered about for idle afternoons, and the long dock is a popular gathering place for adults. Kids seem to enjoy beachcombing on the lake. This property is impeccably well cared for and offers good value. There are also a number of outdoors outfitters nearby where you can buy fishing gear and bait, arrange a sailing tour, and so forth. You can also take tennis lessons on-site.
Facilities:
Restaurant; dock; par-3 golf course; 2 tennis courts; croquet; horseshoes; shuffleboard
