Frommer's Review
The riverside Victoria Chau Doc stands proud on the banks of the Bassac, a busy but captivating stretch of the Mekong. Rooms are a good size, with wood floors and fine detail throughout -- a tidy, comfortable colonial copy. Prices are based on the view (a buck for a glimpse of the river). Bathrooms are nice black-and-white-tile affairs and are large, with stylish granite countertops. Halls are done in a comfortable antique tile, and the general atmosphere of this old riverside dandy is quite pleasant. There's a small pool and decks with great views. The restaurant, Bassac, serves fine Vietnamese and Western cuisine in an air-conditioned dining room or on a picturesque deck. They have a private boat for tours or connections to Cambodia, and the helpful front-desk staff can arrange any local tours.
