West Side/University Area -- Yes, The Village People are here in Chiang Mai: The rooms at YMCA International Hotel (11 Sermsuk Rd., Mengrairasmi; tel. 05322-1819) have attracted missionaries and budget travelers for years. The place is a bit run-down these days, but rooms start at just 600B/US$17/£9.25 for a basic double. In off-season, you may find the Montri Hotel to be a more economical and better-located option.
