Frommer's Review
Yoshi Katsumura has been a familiar name in the Chicago restaurant scene for years, and this casual bistro is a neighborhood favorite (meaning you may be waiting for a table during prime weekend hours). The pastel decor might bring to mind a hotel coffee shop, but the menu is an intriguing mix of Yoshi's native Japan and his French training. Spring rolls come filled with chicken, mushrooms, and goat cheese, while a leek-and-brie tart is livened up with shiitake mushrooms. Vegetable and shrimp tempura show up on the entree list side by side with steak frites au poivre and grilled duck breast. There are always a number of vegetarian options, ranging from pasta to grilled tofu with brie and basil, topped with sweet-sesame paste and miso sauce. While the food is certainly a draw, it's the friendly service that has turned many Wrigleyville residents into regulars. Yoshi himself usually makes the rounds of the dining room, and his wife often greets and seats diners; it's that personal touch that has kept Yoshi's in business for more than 20 years.
