The mosaic tile floor in the vestibule and some of the dark walnut woodwork and fixtures are original to the house; welcome additions include good-sized private bathrooms (some have only shower stalls rather than bathtubs). The rooms -- spacious enough to include armoires and armchairs -- feel even larger thanks to the high ceilings. Antique European furniture fills the house, and guests sleep on goose-down feather beds with high-end linens. Adding to the homey ambience is the courtyard garden, where you can relax with a glass of wine after a day of sightseeing. A full gourmet breakfast -- served on elegant bone china -- is included in the daily room rate.
