Frommer's Review
Want to feel like you've gone back in time without giving up modern amenities such as cable TV? This grand Italianate building has been restored and transformed into a bed-and-breakfast that combines the best of old and new. The mosaic tile floor in the vestibule and some of the dark walnut woodwork and fixtures are original to the house; welcome additions include good-sized private bathrooms (some have only shower stalls rather than bathtubs). The rooms -- which are spacious enough to include armoires and armchairs -- feel even larger than they are, thanks to the high ceilings. The four suites come with gas fireplaces. Antique European furniture fills the house, and guests sleep on goose-down feather beds with high-end linens. Adding to the homey ambience is the courtyard garden, where you can relax with a glass of wine after a day of sightseeing. A full gourmet breakfast -- served on elegant bone china -- is included in the daily room rate.
