This 1897 central city home is riddled with history. It’s been a chaplain’s house, student flats, and an old folk’s home; now it’s a stylish, boutique hotel right in the heart of the action, opposite the Arts Centre. Upstairs accommodations were added in 2004. These rooms are modern, lighter, and sunnier than the original downstairs rooms, but the downstairs rooms have much more architectural character. The large, shared downstairs dining and sitting rooms open onto a small private garden where you can enjoy a quiet drink after a day sightseeing. Despite its size, it has a strong feeling of home and is a little more personable than nearby Orari. They also have a Qualmark Enviro-Silver rating.
