Getting There

The town is the end of some international lines, such as the standard-gauge railway from Sargans. It's also the starting point for the narrow-gauge line to St. Moritz, known as the Rhätische Bahn. The Chur-Arosa line and the Glacier Express also start here. Chur also has frequent train connections from Zurich. Call tel. 0900/300-300 for rail schedules.

Chur lies near the terminus of several bus lines, which link its railway facilities with some of the villages scattered throughout the nearby valleys. The two most prominent of these are Davos and St. Moritz, where bus connections can be made to Munich, across the German border. For bus schedules and information, call tel. 081/254-40-60 for questions about buses within the city limits, and 256-31-66 for buses traveling to or from Chur from points outside the city limits.

If you're driving, Chur is about 90 minutes from Zurich along N3 (later N13), and easily reached by expressway.

The tourist office is located at Bahnhofplatz 3 (tel. 081/252-18-18; www.churtourismus.ch) and is open Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 6pm.
