Frommer's Review
This historic hotel is at the entrance to the Old Town. The building's foundation dates from at least the 14th century. Excavations in the hotel cellar unearthed a collapsed tunnel that had led to the bishop's palace at the opposite end of the old city. Over the years the hotel has welcomed royalty, high-ranking politicians, and world-famous artists. The Drei Könige Hall on the premises used to be part of a monastery and, later, the seat of government.
Except for a handful of budget accommodations without private bathrooms, the well-scrubbed midsize rooms have comfortable furniture, including good beds, and the standard amenities such as up-to-date plumbing with an equal mixture of showers or tubs. The hotel has one of the most popular restaurants in town.
