The Fleece Hotel ReviewIt was on this site that Charles II hid out, posing as a servant to the house mistress, Jane Lane, in 1651, with Cromwell's troops in hot pursuit. The half-timbered facade here hints at origins as an Elizabethan coaching inn, but it was enlarged by the Georgians and today has had many modernizations. The comfortable, small to midsize rooms feature old-fashioned hints of yesteryear, including quilts. Two rooms are large enough for families, and two have four-poster beds.
