Frommer's Review
Now restored, this government-affiliated hostelry, on a hill overlooking Río Agueda, is easily the town's leading inn. It is constructed on the site of a 12th-century castle that was built at the command of Enrique II of Trastamara. The Torre del Homenaje defines the profile of Ciudad Rodrigo; it was once the seat of the feudal court. The parador has several gates and what the Spanish call miradores -- platforms offering panoramic views. Sunset-watching is a popular pastime. The Gothic entrance bears the royal coat of arms and a plaque in Gothic letters. The tastefully furnished rooms offer more style and comfort than any other hotel in town, including the Conde Rodrigo. There is a below-floor heating system in all the bathrooms, each of which has a tub/shower combo. Try for a room overlooking the garden that runs down to the Agueda River. The food in the restaurant is well prepared, especially the roasted meat dishes, and the service polite. The only parking available is on the street.
