Attractions

Coeur d'Alene has a variety of historical and natural sites for the visitor. The Museum of North Idaho (tel. 208/664-3448; www.museumni.org) covers the history of the area with exhibits and photos. Part of that history goes back to the Cataldo Mission, 28 miles east on I-90 (tel. 208/682-3814), built in 1842 and the oldest-standing building in Idaho. Climb Tubbs Hill in town for a view of the area. For family fun, check out Silverwood Theme Park (tel. 208/683-3400; www.silverwoodthemepark.com), 15 minutes north on Hwy. 95, with 65 rides and a waterpark. In town, Wild Waters, 2119 N. Government Way (tel. 208/667-6491; www.wildwaterswaterpark), offers a towering water slide and other aqua activities.
